Course Overview
This two-day course expands upon the one-day Effective Issue Writing course with additional focus on grammar and sentence construction, editing, tone, design, with breakout sessions that focus on your company's specific writing problems. Click here for a detailed outline. 

Using real issues from your company, we'll focus on how to write effective, succinct issues and how to create reports that get noticed. Not only will managers spend less time editing reports, but our industry-proven techniques will reduce that lengthy report writing stage.

This course focuses on writing skills. It will help auditors at all levels refine their writing skills and brush up on the basics. We provide instruction on all aspects of effective writing that apply to any audit or business-related document. You will learn techniques for organizing information and ideas and strategies for achieving clear, concise and complete communication. Together we'll explore how to help one another improve writing and achieve a consistent voice in writing between all audit teams. We will look at the methods to improving communication both during and after fieldwork that contribute to an overall shorter report writing stage.

Who should attend
Financial, Operational, and Information Technology Auditors who would like to maximize the effectiveness of their audit reports.

Objectives
During the Audit Report Writing Boot Camp training course, participants will learn how to 
  1. Define and communicate root causes, business risks simply and succinctly 
  2. Organize and prepare issues early during audit fieldwork
  3. Implement proper paragraph techniques and sentence construction to communicate the essentials of an issue or observation
  4. Edit their own audit reports and mentor others in effective issue writing
  5. Improve tone for better rapport with the audit customer
  6. Write emails for clear, brief communication

Supplemental materials include the slides, observation samples for classroom use, a style guide, and a set of quick-reference cards. We’ll also include questions at the end of each section. 

Agenda
The objective of this class is to teach students how to write an effective and succinct issue. The overall training is comprised of two (2) lessons (for a more detailed outline, click here): 
  1. Issue Prewriting (“Beginning the Process”)
  2. Issue Writing (“The 10-Sentence Burst”)
  3. Perfecting the Issue (“Common Grammar and Punctuation Pitfalls”) 
  4. Communicating with the business 
  5. Improving tone in communication
  6. Designing informative reports
  7. Shortening the report cycle

Refund policy
Requests for refunds must be received in writing two weeks prior to event, and will be subject to a $100 cancellation fee. Tumbleweed's refund policy allows for full refunds up to two weeks prior to the training course. Cancellation policy
In the event that Tumbleweed cancels a training, we will communicate this information via email to registered participants no later than 24 hours prior to the originally scheduled program.
